US Forces Targeted a 'Large Complex' in the Venezuelan nation, President Trump Stated Without Offering Details.

Former President Donald Trump has asserted that American military assets hit a "significant plant" in the South American country recently. However, the ex-leader did not specify the exact nature or location of the target, and officials have issued no additional clarification from his camp.

Unspecific Remarks Made In a Radio Show

"US forces just knocked out – I don't know if you read – they have a large facility, where the ships originate. Recently, we knocked that out. So we struck them decisively," Trump reportedly told GOP supporter and businessman John Catsimatidis on Friday.

Potential Implications of a Verified Attack

Should a American military action is verified, it would constitute the initial land strike since the Pentagon began a buildup of US military presence in the Caribbean region to halt narco-trafficking operations that the Trump administration alleges operate under the orders of Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro.

The initial mission of the military buildup has since morphed into a quarantine aimed at stopping the country's crude oil shipments.

Online Video and Administration Claims

Trump has for some time warned that US forces are ready to escalate the operations by striking targets within Venezuela, a strategy that would in theory require congressional authorization.

Online video posted online on 24 December seemed to depict an explosion said to be from an industrial area in Zulia state. Yet, the footage or the facility has not been corroborated.

An official from Trump's team allegedly informed a media outlet that the president was referring to a narco-trafficking site in his comments.

Response and Ongoing Strategic Situation

The Caracas administration has issued no statement on the event the former president referenced. Furthermore, there have been no corroborating news from Venezuela about it.

The buildup of US military in the area – a position some have referred to as a maritime "quarantine" – marks the broadest naval operation of the Trump era.

Sources have avoided from calling the operation as a blockade, but have acknowledged that approximately 15,000 troops are stationed across the Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico, including a carrier strike group, advanced fighter jets, and Coast Guard cutters to uphold current sanctions.
